Woman

Woman, close & gentle, soft of touch
Peace of equilibrium
Holder of all natural love

Fear, to be overtaken, race of time
Urge of temptation, devourer of anxieties

Woman, warm & tender, in proximity
Calm, with balance
Giver of a carers love

Ache, to be unknowing, sweep of feet
Lace of intoxication, chaser of all pain

Woman, near to far, happy of fondle
Still of sobriety
Equally a sharer of conjugal love

Fifteen Minutes Without Fame

Smile stranger
You who she hasn't yet met
Raindrops on her settled surface
Sideways shadow, absent fret

Prayer gives her certainty
Such is clear from her pose
She straightens herself from kneeling
Moves as a ghost, from pew to rose

Something close to silence
Shafted, sunlit, stained glass light
Footsteps taken, evenly, with reverence
She is moved by the quiet might

Conditioning

I was approached
As I sat quietly
I was warm
Settled and comfortable
I had recently bathed

In that sense then
Of warmth and wellbeing
I had made fair of myself
Forged a sympathetic soul
Who was easily approachable

The approach was swift
Almost in an instant
I felt a cloud enter
With the heat of old love
Among its presence

I could talk of sand dunes
Only you don't know
I could talk of seashores
Only how would I show
If only I could talk, so

The lasting wasn't long, it
Lasted much less than the longing
The casting though was strong
The woman and the boy were
Both deeply & at once belonging

Approaching without warning
Down deep grooved pathways
Not asking to enter, so simply
I was entered; I was warmed
By what I had made of myself

Thoughts

Warm clouds of soft mystery
Within the body, yet reachable
Within the mind, but touchable
Reachable and touchable
Just as we reach and touch
For baskets full of emotions
Just as we reach and touch
For nothing is there without her
Except nostalgia and nirvana

Disturbances, subtle with joy
Carrying reality as a thought
No more than a thought, yet
Realisable and visible
Just as we visualise and realise
The wind and the smokescreen
Just as we realise and visualise
That without her there is nothing
Except that which transpires

Platform

She said it was like a fly's eye, the concourse roof
I had the risotto
Served with the pasta, bean, and minestrone soup
We are mostly aloof
Waiting for our northbound train
Will I see you tonight repeats over the tannoy

Could the next tune be a classical refrain
She spooked me with her spoof
Of someone who had lost their mind
Only to find her sat back to back behind
Me, making signs
Of childish amusement

I bought the book on sadness
A treatise on the latest developments
In the psychology of loss and bereavement
As with Tagore I read of civilisations
That continue to dance with their dead
Immersed in the understanding

The self-aggrandisement of life
How grandiose is the spirit
The spirit and the life

Kate had cabbage
