Mountain (My Mountain)

Mountain with mountain air mountain with stream
My mountain to climb my mountain to dream

Mountain on the prairie mountain on the marsh
My mountain to wander my mountain never too harsh
Mountain in my writing mountain in my schemes
My mountain for support my mountain on which to lean

Mountain lapped with water mountain crested with snow
My mountain to meander my mountain to grow

Mountain of so many metres mountain of such great height
My mountain of courage my mountain you willed me to fight

Mountain with base camp mountain with immense peak
My mountain a mystery my mountain a truth so many seek
Mountain with blue light mountain with no thought of defeat
My mountain to guide me my mountain padded with peat

Mountain with pools mountain with shimmering lakes
My mountain my passion my mountain untangles my aches

Spring In Winter

And where were you on that Saturday morning
Did you call in the chapel on your way to the church
Did you walk beneath the birch trees lined up
To guide the indifferent to follow the dearth

And did you pick daffodils or mow the first lawn
This dawn of the new ages this time of the fawn

Did you step smartly as if walking down the aisle
Did you forget hardly as you offered your smile
And on the next day were you late for the lark
Did you walk through the meadow like a walk in the park

Did you dress slovenly without a brush of the hair
Did you burn skin distracted by the flushing fun of the fair

And did you photograph roses to stake your February claim
Did you miss out the first part to help you forget her name
Did you find yourself peaceful in the silent bliss of peace
Or were you deceitful as you sought out further release

Frost

Where were you before you were here
How cold for those near you do you hear
Do not give me your chill creep out over that windowsill
Ice the unsettled waters down the narrow feral rill

If you are not today with the mist kissed
By the ghost of he who insisted and then missed
Do not give me your freeze for I still believe to seize
The moment is to capture the morning glory breeze

Which rages on the salt water's sages of the ocean waves
He who craves the daughter of Venus becomes her slave

No more then to behave or to misbehave at the rave
Carry on chasing the song to catapult the brave

Into a cosmology of suns and moons and silver-stars
Shooting at the planet's criss-crossed bejewelled bazaars
Search the shining as if searching those pebbles in jars
For hidden messages from the princesses and the Tzars

Where were you before you were clear
How bold for those near you do you reappear
Do not give me your thrill climb out over this fool on the hill
Raise the child with your own free will to settle the bill

Homestead

The world it is turning
But it doesn't quite know me
Yes the world it is turning
But it doesn't yet own me

I am still going
Yet where there is no knowing
The world doesn't know
And I'm not for showing

Round and round
And faster and faster
Who knows where I'm bound
Who knows if I will surpass her

The lady in the window
With joy in her eyes
The lady on the doorstep
Crying my o my

My boys are back with me
To laugh, sat at the table
My boys are back with me
To go overseas no more

So let's
Turn up the music
And let's
Kick off the dance

We are here tonight
And we won't go
No, we won't go
Overseas no more

We are here tonight
And we won't go
No, we won't go
Overseas no more

No, we won't go
Overseas no more
No, we won't go
Overseas no more

Break In The Rain

He had been too busy
To look at the moon
So it was good for him
That I had taken a photograph
Good for me also
For whilst yes
I had seen the real thing
The camera forced me
Encouraged me
To take a few extra moments
To make sure of what it was
That I was seeing
To then compose, and frame
The whole thing
Take one more deep breath
And press the shutter
