Most days I would try to write a poem; it is a practice, as I suppose is meditation, or smiling, or watching the world go by

Sparkle
Quiet winds,
you have moved on
left your silence in our minds
behind you
We listen to the chimes
the fairy lights sway
We wait for the rains to arrive
then to do their beating
Last years shutters are drawn
the carriages are called
It is the turn of the season
and a time for new departures
The door lock clocks another cog
we go our separate ways
I am once again in a mind to hurry
that it is the way; so it has to be
The hope that sought such
slight forgiveness
Weathered, without vane
it is priming up the band
The silent winds are waiting
by the sunlit softened sand
Once again, together my love
we mind ourselves to dance

Voices
by the simple stream
the swallow falls
The moment
if that is all it was
says one more goodbye
Yet
out of the reflection
a swoop is returned
The time
if it is still forever
hears the call of your name

Double Room
The arm aches
when all I’ve done is nothing
but twist and turn
laid on one side, then the other
The day breaks
to look out, downalong the river
A torrent that turns and twists
flows first one way, then the other
The breakfast is trout
with softly scrambled eggs
I toast my bread
first one side, then the other
The end is here
of such a short vacation
All the while I’ve thought of me
yet mostly I have written of another

Blemish
You are the product of two incomplete people
We are all
a little incomplete
Your fumbly toes,
her tickled nose
Your mothers gin
her not so thin
You falling out with all about, and then there are the men
Another story
to be completed later

Trap
You have re-arranged the furniture, built a cupboard
Surrounded yourself with sound, light, & a flat screen twenty seven inch television
Only to discover that materialism reaches its limits; you spread out from those four walls
Venture onto the trackers trail, fill your rucksack with layby’s fruits of love
Eat into your vast reserves; re-join living society & take a walk, take a long endless walk
