Yesterday, one heck of a wind
Blowing through those great big
Horse Chestnut and Plane trees
Around The Green, on The Revesby Estate
I should have known a storm was coming
And I did know that the storm was near
As I sat on the park bench in Horncastle
To eat my fish and chips
Well my car is new, so you wouldn’t
Have me eat them in there, now would you
I had been to see the hygienist in Spilsby
To have my gums checked
Also to have my teeth deep-cleaned
With a powder and warm-water concoction
Which truly did the business
Today it is calmer, warmer
The fierce rains washed away
Whatever had to be washed away
But I’m still here, writing as ever
Trying to find my very own authentic voice
