I say I will
But I do not do
You say you won’t
Your do becomes my don’t
At the end of November
As the light turns to fade
I think of you
I am so staid
In my little room
With table-lamp lit
I write these love words
I hope they fit
Most days I would try to write a poem; it is a practice, as I suppose is meditation, or smiling, or watching the world go by
I say I will
But I do not do
You say you won’t
Your do becomes my don’t
At the end of November
As the light turns to fade
I think of you
I am so staid
In my little room
With table-lamp lit
I write these love words
I hope they fit
My open heart
My open palm
Let it be
Your endless charm
In this land
Of make believe
You broke my heart
Yet I halfway conceive
That only time
And only tide
Restrict the feelings
Of that aeroplane ride
You are not connected
Your words are not mine
But also I am not connected
And do not know
How to resurrect the past
Or how to strike out for a future
The more I see your choices
The more I feel
That I too must choose
Select for my own health
A varied kind of life
Which includes companionship
Here again with Berlin Blue
Here again in love with you
However long the breaks I take
Its all for you that I’m on the make
If love is love for old times sake
It’s all for you this lust I rake
There is no fear in the future
There is no future in the past
Fear lives only in the present
And for sure it cannot last
There is life in the living
There is living in the life
Life lives out in the present
Those are the hours of little strife
There is an explanation of the question
There is an answer waiting to be found
Hope is the hopeful suggestion
Where we go ourselves to ground
There is a world in the oyster
Thoughts turn to grains of sand
There is wisdom entering the cloister
As also with the shaking of the hand
Why be sad
When you know
Life has so many
Twists and turns
Go on, look out
At the sunlight
On the trees
As the wind breathes over the branches
Yes you can think back
To the hotel by the fairground
With a sauna
Frequented by young women
In this way
Levelling out happens
Mostly of its own accord
Although sometimes a little push helps
