Still; love

I will wake you, in a while

So that later

We shall sleep safely together

That moment, it is upon me

Time to gather

And think about forever

Always and unexpected

Something

About instantaneous

Non-delayed gratification

About surprise

Wait; just for the right moment

Yesterday

The performance

The after performance party

Sunsets

Chilean Merlot

A guitar and a songbook

To wake

In love with love

We make love

About your present

Wait; just for the right moment

Soundwaves, nightfall

That pigeon, how long will it coo

Is that at all spelt correctly

How say would you hear it

At nightfall

At the time to settle

At the time to roost

Over there

The poppy stalks

Curled, bristled

Pods now where the flowers used to be

Thistles, softer hair on my lower arm

They share the sunlight

Care for the unseen shadow of immediacy

Hangover

This is another nightfall

You asleep on the sofa

Wind blows through the slung open door

Bukowski, Kerouac, Waits

Why go in search of the low life

When presence pains no forgiveness

I tiptoe

It was such a long long journey

Beyond the duty of sleep

Motel bedrooms, Madison county

Where again the night after tomorrow

In pasts their feigns deliverance

Long shadows settle

Of old coal-fired chimneys

All covered by blue sky

Dog tracks, bars with malt whisky

Good time guys of the night

Of the day, a lighter sleeper

Promise, misunderstand the instructions

My breath is quickened

The telephone conversation

Another disappointment

Another let down notification

You tried to express annoyance

To say the service was unacceptable

Your words fell on sympathetic ears

She said; so sorry, it is regrettable

See, you were unable even

To engage in an argument

Of course, with the sun shining

And those dozing dreams close at hand

It takes time to get your dander up

And then

Amusingly, even less time

For the anger to recede

Remember then in future

The first rule of combative participation

Is that, the first to strike

Is often the one who turns out to be the winner
