As we hurry down the tracks

Is it art or is it dying

Is it all the lies

For which we try

To cry our eyes out crying

Flies on the wall

As doubts that prize

Our thoughts, until they

Might desensitise our souls

For all the world to know

Show how it ever was

Thus bound together

We died, buried by the snow

Halfway to Sark

A wall

Standing between land and sea

Its height, its depth, its robustness

All those other defining features

The memory forgets the sketch

Instead one retraces on an essence

Of that particular Friday morning

Outside the wind picks up

It is still the time of darkness

I hear the sound of rain

Safe in a warm bed, I daydream

Of flags and pavements

Places, between one and another

Where small birds & children played

Ahead of us then 

Sights of happiness, or contentment 

Sat on a wall, looking at the boats

Tasting the ice cream

Less complicated than the

Complicated arrangements

The fortifications now to disassemble

Today the day is Wednesday
