Most days I would try to write a poem; it is a practice, as I suppose is meditation, or smiling, or watching the world go by

Background
It is a cool breeze
on the shoulder
Reminds me, how old
I have become
The northern connection
as if to smoulder
confides in me, I’m told
no more to run
Ancients, older than modern
whispers sweet trespasses
He waits
for the moments to reassemble
Moments, cold, almost frozen
waves in her hair
laughter in her eyes
sweet soul trespasses
The breeze is alive
in a northerly direction
On leaving one so stubborn
She decides to settle in the South

Rise, fall, surprise
Yesterday was autumn, or so you said
Today, in the sunlight,
are these the last throws of the summer
The Wagnerian crescendo, raucous
over the mountains, falls silent; floods,
once rampant fade calmly down the valleys
The monotone memorials travel on the leaf,
shimmering; invisible crests are embossed
within the fabric of our journey
Yesterday was autumn, or so you said
Instead, shrunk in short sleeves,
surprised again by the curtain calls of belief

Paths cross
Under canvas
beneath trees
beside the river
Waiting
for the festival to begin
In the darkness
and the rain
All alone
waiting
for the call to arms
Escape to the story
of places lost
Of journeys to nowhere
waiting
for time to move along
Come back, won’t you
unzip the doorway
Look out at the daylight moon
waiting
for the dragonflies to dance

Colour Therapy
or Fremantle with the sun steady in the sky
Places where we may never have been
other than by the autumn
The bronze & golden leaves
on trees at the out of town designer mall
Call from deeper space
further than our subconscious
Holding hands, smiling glances
soft spoken words of love and care
Shared with the breeze
and the sunlight
Shared with the policeman on accident duty
as the sun sets on the motor cycle cavalcade
Calvary in the fall
or Freebird with the silence in the steady light

Maybe
We had our days
You only miss them
miss them when they’re gone
Today my mind went away
in that while, my smile
chose the time to carry on
Carry on regardless
Of places with memories
faces, by the blue sky sea
Endless days, slowly feeling free
Free, as the butterfly
in a room with closed windows
A thing of beauty
in a net or jar, captured
by an innocent child
Captured by the incense
the exotic presence
of one other soul
I fall into the days
Days we only had to miss
miss you now you’ve gone
